Q.  If I join MAC, am I committed to a long-term commitment?
A.  No. Athletes can stop with the club whenever they choose, but proper notification is required. When a family decides to take a break or stop swimming with the club, they will need to Email our Team Administrator, Lyne Santhin by the 20th of the month prior to leaving to deactivate at  [email protected]

Q.  Can I try out the swim team before I commit to joining?
A.  Yes. If requested, we allow swimmers and parents to give the program a trial for a few days and see if it is something you want to do prior to fully committing.

Q.  What is the Registration Fee?
A.  There are two Registration Fees:
1. Team Registration:  The $150 Registration fee to MAC covers athletes' initial team t-shirt and swim cap and the day-to-day operations of the club including clerical work and general operating expenses.

2. USA Swimming Registration:  The $100 fee goes to USA Swimming for insurance coverage for your child that covers you at practice and meets.  The fee is paid directly to USA Swimming.  Once a swimmer registers with the team they will receive a team specific signup link from the Team Administrator to register with USA Swimming.

Q.  Do I have to compete if I am on the swim team?
A.  We are a competitive swimming program, and we do expect our team members to compete in some swim meets.

Q.  Is there a uniform required?
A. MAC does have a competition team suit with our logo that is required to be worn at swim meets. You can also purchase warm-ups, parkas, and backpacks if desired. The vendor of choice for the Magnolia Aquatic Club is D & J Sports in Tomball. Click HERE to visit the MAC Team Shop at D & J.

Q.  Compared to other sports, how much does swimming cost?
A.  Not much!  After your initial team registration fee of $150 and $100 to USA Swimming, the monthly Coaching fees range from $135 for developmental groups up to $285 for our National Team. Other costs include a team competition suit (girls $60 / boys $40), practice suits (girls $50 / boys $30), goggles ($8-$12), swim caps ($5-$15).

Groups are billed tuition for nine months (September-May) and there is no tuition for June, July and August if you join in September. If you join in October, you will be charged through June to complete the nine months.  If you join in November, you will be charged through July to complete the 9 months.   If you join with fewer than nine months left in the season, you will merely pay the monthly fee each month through August.

Beyond monthly tuition, the main cost throughout the year would be entry fees to swim meets. Swimmers are charged an entry fee per each event entered in the meet. Entry fees for most competitions vary, but an approximate cost is ($10.00 per event + a $10.00 per swimmer surcharge).  Not all meets are the same and championship meets are typically higher. Meet costs are always published with the meet information, so you know the cost of the meet before the signup deadline has passed.  At most meets, swimmers can swim 3-4 events per day, and most meets are 2 1/2 days (Friday, Saturday & Sunday) and are offered about once per month.

Q.  What will it cost me to get started with the club?
A.  After the initial USA Swimming ($100) & MAC Registration ($150) fees, all you have are the monthly tuition and meet entry cost for any meets you enter.

Q.  Who owns and operates the club program?
A.  The Magnolia Independent School District owns Magnolia Aquatic Club. All staff are employees of the district, and all fees are paid to the district. The MISD Aquatics Director and Head Coach directly oversees the club program and its operation. The club does have a parent booster club that serves as a support group for the club.

Q. Do I have to live in the Magnolia Independent School District to be on the team? No. We have swimmers from all over the area and many different school districts that swim and participate in our program.
