Michael McCauley Head Coach / CEO

Coach McCauley has been the Head Coach/CEO of MAC and the Aquatics Director for Magnolia ISD since April of 2022.  Prior to his start with the MAC family, he was the Executive Director and Head Coach of PACK Swimming (Klein, TX) from its inception in March 2007 through March 2022.  During his time at PACK, his swimmers enjoyed success at Olympic Trials, US Open, Senior Nationals, Junior Nationals, Sectionals, and TAGS.  PACK was a USA Swimming Club Excellence Bronze or Silver medal club for 10 of the 15 years under his leadership.  

He has published 2 articles nationally with the American Swim Coaches Association (ASCA), and 2 of his workouts have been featured on the ASCA website for middle distance and distance training.  His technique and drills have been recorded and broadcasted by USA Swimming, 2 of his athletes have made the news on multiple stations in Houston for their accomplishments, and he was also featured on ESPN Locker Talk for the achievements of PACK! 
Due to athlete development and success at Premier Aquatics, Coach Mike was also selected as 1 of 8 coaches across the nation to coach at the National Select Camp held at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Since 2007, his swimmers have held (or continue to hold) numerous pool, Gulf, and State records across all events and relays.  Here are some of the athletes that Coach Mike had the privilege of working with:

  • 1 of his former swimmers represented Mexico in the 2012 Olympic Games

  • 1 swimmer represented the United States in Taiwan at the 2009 Deaflympics

  • 1 swimmer qualified for the 2015-2016 USA Swimming National Junior Team

  • 5 Olympic Trials Qualifiers (2008, 2012, 2016, 2021)

  • 17 Senior National Qualifiers

  • 8 swimmers have made USA Swimming's All-Time Top 100 Performances list

  • 75 Junior National Qualifiers

  • Over 150+ Sectional Qualifiers

  • 1 swimmer named to USA Swimming's National Select Camp 

  • 8 swimmers named to USA Swimming's Southern Zone Select Camp

  • 50 swimmers named as USA Swimming Academic All-Americans

  • 75 swimmers went on to swim in college

Coach Mike started his coaching career as a head coach at the age of 18 with the NWAL summer league team, The Woodlands Waves. After 4 years and a 500-member swim team later, he began coaching with the USA swim team, The Woodlands Swim Team (TWST).  As an Age Group coach with TWST for 5 years, Coach Mike assisted in coaching many TAGS qualifiers, TAGS champions, TAGS record holders, as well as Junior National qualifiers.  He then became the Head Coach for Oak Ridge High School for 5 years, where he was fortunate to coach Junior/Senior National qualifiers, 4 state champions, 3 All Americans, and 2 All American relays.  During his time with ORHS, he was voted District and Region Coach of the Year for 2003 and 2004. While coaching for ORHS, he simultaneously coached an NWAL summer league team, the Kleinwood Dolphins, for 3 fun-filled years.

Coach Mike has his B.S. in Mathematics with a Minor in Secondary Education from Sam Houston State University.

Clayton Cagle National Elite Team Coach

Clayton Cagle comes to MAC with 38 years of coaching experience. A 1979 graduate of Drury University, in Springfield, Missouri, Cagle spent his early career in the Midwest coaching club and college programs. 

A leader in the Texas swimming community since 1986, Clayton began a 26-year career with the Cypress Fairbanks Swim Club.  While at Fleet, Coach Cagle helped guide 3 athletes to the Olympic Games!  Almost a dozen of Clayton’s swimmers have earned spots on National and National Junior Teams. He also led his team to team victories at Junior Nationals and Sectionals.

A 4-time winner of Gulf Swimming Coach of the Year, Cagle was the head coach of the 2006-2007 National Junior Team and has been selected as Head coach for several USAS Camps in Colorado Springs.

A fan of NASCAR, Clayton has been married for 35 years to Brenda who is a Coach and Teacher at Bleyl middle school in CFISD. He has two sons, Kurtis, 33, works in the Woodlands, and Brad 28 who is married to Jill. He has one Grandson, Colton, that will be as cool as his grandfather.

Rick Mills Pre-National Elite & MISD OCPE

Coach Rick has been with MAC for over a decade.  Mills has an extensive swimming background in the Houston area and has served as a Teacher, Head High School Coach, and Head Club Coach over the years.

Coach Rick has coached kids to every level in swimming you could, including the Olympic Trials.  Rick's greatest attribute is that he is excited to help kids grow and improve as a swimmer regardless of their swimming level.  Coach Rick currently coaches the Pre-National Elite group and the MISD Junior High Off-Campus PE program.

Rick's roots began in Indiana and he now resides in the Lake Conroe area with his wife Martha.  The couple has one son and welcomed their first grandson almost 3 years ago. His other hobbies include fishing and working on building projects.

Shana Trabona Head Age Group Coach - Maroon & Bronze

ASCA Age Group Level 5

Coach Shana’s early years were spent alternating between barrel racing and swimming.  In high school her love for swimming took over and she began coaching summer league.  While swimming at LSU she began coaching with their local club swim team.  After moving to the Houston area, she coached at ATEX in the Klein area.  She was then hired to coach at TWST and was shortly promoted to Head Age Group Coach where she continued to coach for 25 plus years.  At The Woodlands she coached many wonderful athletes and led TWST to many Texas Age Group State Championship (TAGS) titles.  She was also awarded the Gulf Age Group Coach of the Year several times over the course of her career.  After leaving TWST she coached for a short stint with PACK and then moved onto Villasport in The Woodlands.  She built Villasport from the ground up and they placed in the top 8 at TAGS in the 2021 and 2022 seasons.

Coach Shana and her husband Tommy have 3 sons.  All were excellent swimmers and her oldest son is currently the Head Age Group Coach at MAC (Mansfield Aquatic Club) in Dallas.  When not coaching Shana enjoys spending time with her 6 grandchildren and playing around in the yard.

Shane McCauley Asst Head Age Group Coach-White +,Silver

ASCA Certified: Age Group Level 5

Coach Shane grew up on the island of Guam where he swam for the Manhoben Swim Team starting at age 4.  In 1992, Shane was chosen for the Guam Olympic Swim Team as a distance swimmer. He was awarded a swim scholarship at Morehead State (Division I) in Kentucky and was chosen Team Captain by his junior year.  After college he moved to Texas to attend Sam Houston State University as a postgrad to get certified to teach in Texas.  He started his coaching experience with The Waves, a summer league swim team for NWAL, in The Woodlands from 1996 - 2000.  In 1998 he was hired on as a USA Swimming Age Group coach for The Woodlands Swim Team (TWST).  While teaching at The Woodlands High School, Shane also became the Head Women's Swim Coach from 2000 - 2004.  In 2004 Shane joined Klein Aquatics as the Head Age Group Coach which he continued until the merger and creation of Premier Aquatics until summer of 2022.  At the start of Short Course in 2022, Shane joined the Magnolia Aquatics Club (MAC) as an age group coach where he is today. In this, he has now over 20+ years coaching in USA Swimming.

His responsibilities on MAC include coaching the White Plus and Silver groups and overseeing the summer travel trips. His swimmers have set TAGS records, achieved Top 16 times, Junior National, Senior National, All American, and even Olympic Trial cuts, as well as setting USA Swimming National Age Group records.

Shane has been teaching History in High School for the last 20+ years and currently still with Conroe ISD at Caney Creek High School.  He and his wife Leslie live in Magnolia with their two daughters Meghan (swims in the PreNat program) and Teagan (swims in the Age Group Program).  When away from the pool or classroom, Coach Shane is active in the Subaru car scene, being outdoors camping, and loves his iced green tea.

Donovan Coskey Senior Group
Coach Coskey was a collegiate swimmer at Henderson State University.  During his time at Henderson, he broke the school records in the 100 and 200 Butterfly along with getting his senior cut in the 100 Butterfly.  He has 25 years of club experience ranging from age group to senior/national level swimmers.  Along with the club, he has been an assistant or a head high school coach for the past 23 years. Currently he is the Head High Swim Coach for Magnolia HS and is looking forward to being a part of the MAC family.
 
Coach Coskey has been married to Julie for 23 years and has two daughters.  Their oldest, Madison, is 20 years old and runs cross country and track at Oklahoma Christian University while studying in Communications.  Their youngest, Macie, is 18 years old and is pursuing an accounting degree at the Rellis campus.
 
Kenneth Nelson Senior Group
Coach Nelson graduated from Texas A&M Commerce and has been coaching swimming for 17 years.  From 2009-2011 he taught social studies and coached in Big Spring Texas. He then moved to Victoria Texas where he taught social studies, coached swimming at the high school level and formed Victoria’s very first USA club team.  Coach Nelson has been around south central Texas learning the fundamentals of coaching swimming and passing that knowledge on to younger swimmers.  Coach Nelson has been married to Rachel Nelson for the last two years. He is very excited to get back into USA Swimming and being a part of the Magnolia Aquatic Club.
Gustavo Marin White Group

Coach G comes to MAC with 13 years of coaching experience. Gustavo grew up in Costa Rica and his coaching journey began right after being awarded a swim scholarship at ITCR (Costa Rica Institute of Technology) when he started coaching with their local club swim team and assisting the university’s swim team.  After graduation he was hired as an age group coach at a swim club closer to his hometown.

After relocating to the USA in 2019, he identified MAC as a best fit club for his oldest son and then in August 2022 quickly jumped at the opportunity to join the coaching staff.  His responsibilities at MAC include coaching the White group.

When not coaching Gustavo leads a Supply Chain Systems Architecture team for a US based IT company; enjoys doing triathlons and spending time with his wife and 2 sons.
Jessica Jackson Gold and League

Coach Jackson coaches the MAC Gold and League Swimming groups.   Jessica brings her love of swimming, a keen eye for detail, and the unwavering pursuit of the perfect drill set.  With over a decade of coaching in the Gulf, Jackson started her career with The Woodlands Swim Team moving to the Premier Aquatic Club of Klein and Swim Streamline at Northampton en route to Magnolia.

A TAGS Finalist and Sectional Qualifier, Coach Jackson is also the Head Coach of her high school alma mater, St. Pius X, where she was a State Finalist her Junior and Senior year.

When not coaching Jackson is an Independent Insurance Agent who enjoys spending time with her English bulldogs and family.

Lyne Santhin Team Admin & Swim Meet Coordinator

Lyne joined MAC in January 2023 as the Swim Meet Coordinator and in August 2023 added the role of Team Administrator. 

She graduated from Texas A&M with a BBA in Accounting and became certified as a CPA shortly after graduating.  She initially worked for a public accouting firm in audit and then went to work for one of her clients before retiring to become a full time mom after her 1st child was born.  Her involvement with swimming began in 1997, when her 3 children began competitive swimming, first with a neighborhood NWAL summer league team and later with a year-round USA Swimming team and high school team.  Over the years, she has served in many different roles as a parent volunteer and also as a board member with a summer league team, USA Swimming team, High School Swim Team Booster Club and PTO.  In 2006 she joined the staff of New Wave Aquatics in the Klein area as the part time Team Administrator.   When New Wave and Klein Aquatics merged in the spring of 2007, she then became the full time Business Manager for the merged team, Premier Aquatics (PACK).  She served in that role for over 15 years.  Over her many years in USA Swimming, she also served as both a certified Administrative Official, as well as a certified Meet Director at 100s of swim meets over the years.        

Joy Field Swim Lesson Coordinator

Joy Field is a swim intructor from Magnolia, Texas.  She started swimming competitively at age 7 and swim with Magnolia Aquatic Club for 10 years, as well as for Texas A&M in college.  She graduated with her BS in Wildlife and Fisheries in 2021.  While in college, Joy worked at Aggie Swim Camp, helping swimmers of all ages and levels with their technique, and more recently worked as a swim instructor in College Station.

Joy has achieved many milestones in her swimming career, including being a part of the Jr. National Team and the National Team, as well as qualifying for the Olympic Trials in both 2016 and 2020. In 2016, she ranked 14th in the world for her 1500M time and 99th for her 800M time. Joy has also represented the USA in swimming competitions in Ireland, Hong Kong, Japan, and Hawaii. These experiences have taught her the value of hard work, and dedication and have inspired her to share her passion and knowledge with others.

As a swim instructor, Joy believes in creating a positive and supportive atmosphere that encourages individual growth. She strives to strike a balance between challenging young swimmers to improve their skills and allowing them to have fun and enjoy the sport.   She aims to create a space where young swimmers can develop not only their physical abilities but also essential life skills such as determination, resilience, and leadership.   She recognizes the importance of balance between learning and having fun, and she aims to ensure that her students leave each session feeling accomplished, energized, and enthusiastic about the sport.

Outside of the pool, Joy enjoys hiking, backpacking, rock climbing, and taking a good nap. She is excited to be joining MAC once again and helping make learning to swim fun and exciting, just as it was for her.
